Get VM total Osuptime between a given interval i.e last 5 minutes.

Hi Team,

I'm able to get the VM OsUptime in vCenter using perf counter metric "sys.osUptime.latest". once the VM is rebooted, the counter starts fresh and resets back to -1. is there a way to get a total OsUptime in a given interval i.e total OsUptime in the last 5 minutes ?

I was able to calculate the VM uptime based on the vCenter events. Please let me know if you have any better suggestions.
currently I'm looking at the following two events: "VmPoweredOffEvent" abd "VmStartingEvent"
