A better way to call JSON RPC API

At the moment, I call personal_sign in this way

let signature;
if (wallet.connector.name === 'metaMask') {
		const metamask = wallet.provider as MetaMaskProvider
		signature = await metamask.request({
		         method: 'personal_sign',
		         params: [LOGIN_MESSAGE, address],
	         })
} else if (wallet.connector.name === 'walletConnect') {
	const walletconnect = wallet.provider as IWalletConnectProvider
	signature = await walletconnect.send('personal_sign', [LOGIN_MESSAGE, address])
} else {
	throw new Error('Wallet not supported')
}   

Looking for a prettier interface to call this kind of function.
