Change Log:

3.1.1

  • Changed results file paths to include audio latency measurement type and use the ~ character as a delimiter for automated parsing of results files.

3.1.0

  • Added ability to output audio to the current Windows audio format. This can be useful when testing encoded audio formats, such as Dolby or DTS, and using something like an HDMI splitter to direct encoded audio to a reference decoder and a DUT decoder.
  • Best attempt at ensuring at least one audio format is always selected for Analog audio latency measurement.
  • Filtered offsets display on Getting Started screen to use the audio format filter of the offset profile.
  • Various usability improvements:
  • Changed "Format Switch Tone" option to "Calculate Min, Max, and Average Latency".
  • Changed "Save individual recordings" default to be true for release builds based on user feedback.
  • Combined crosstalk detection option to be one checkbox for both channels.
  • Improved warning dialog for disabling crosstalk detection.
  • Added link to YouTube demonstration video.
  • Cleaned up troubleshooting text.
  • Blocking "Adjust Volumes" step until 3 consecutive "Good" signal qualities have been measured.

3.0.0

  • Combined all latency measurement tools into one app that allows switching between measurement types.
  • Added analog audio latency measurement type.
  • Added placeholder ARC and eARC receiver audio latency types that currently do not have any output offset profiles.
  • Changed "HDMI to ARC, eARC, or S/PDIF Latency" term to "HDMI Audio Passthrough Latency".
  • Moved selection of Dual-Out Reference Device and Reference DAC to the Getting Started screen.
  • Added display of output offsets and latency values that are used during measurement result calculations.
  • Removed "Recording Length" setting and replaced it with "Additional Recording Time" to address an issue where the recording length would not increase when the lead-in time setting was increased.
  • Various small changes to the GUI.
  • Code refactoring to make the project easier to extend.

2.2.3

  • Exposed lead-in time under advanced configuration for DUTs that have a long wake up time when switching to a new audio format.

2.2.2

  • Added new error dialog to results screen when negative latency has been calculated.
  • Minor improvements to help text and usability.

2.2.1

  • Changed terminology to use "reference" devices.
  • Minor improvements to help text.

2.2.0

  • Halved pitch of latency measurement tone from 11/12 kHz to 5.5/6 kHz to increase signal to noise ratio.
  • Added a pause feature to the volume adjustment screen.
  • Added a "possible clipping" indicator to peak monitors.
  • Added crosstalk detection during measurements.
  • Fixed scenario where audio input has a pop sound when recording starts.
  • Added lead-in tone to help with microphones that have dynamic normalization.
  • Added some advanced configuration options.
  • Lots of help text improvements and fixes.

2.1.0

  • Further improved audio pattern detection algorithm to better handle echoes in recorded audio.
  • Removed loud wake up tone in favour of quiet constant tone throughout measurement audio pattern.
  • Added audio formats note about a limitation in AMD HDMI audio drivers.

2.0.0

  • Audio pattern detection has been mostly re-written to use a user-defined threshold.
  • The "Adjust Volumes" screen has been entirely re-written to greatly improve usability and increase measurement capability with the new audio pattern detection algorithm.
