Support request

Interacting with auro-select while using the screenreader is misleading for users. Currently, the screenreader reads out when a menu option is being hovered and when an option has been selected:

  • Hover option speech: "{hovered option}, selected, {index of hovered option} of {length of options array}
    • Example: "Stops, selected, 1 of 6"
  • Selected option speech: "{selected option} is the selected option"
    • Example: "Stops is the selected option"

Possible Solution

The screenreader text for hover options should not use the word "select".

Context

The purpose of auro-select is for the user to select an option in the dropdown. Hovering over an option should use different terminology because we are not actually selecting an option on hover, which can be misleading to those exclusively using a screenreader.
