Starting with WordPress 6.3, scheduled to be released in a few weeks, the new minimum supported version of PHP will be 7.0.0.

Since we support WP -1, we should still support PHP 5.6 for a few months, but when preparing for the WordPress 6.4 release compatibility, we should be able to remove all our tests, checks, and backwards compatibility measures for PHP 5.6.
