Besides, could you tell me what software you are developing? Since not many people are interested in Traditional Chinese phonology these days, I am willing to know what projects you are working on. |
Hi! Thank you for reaching out. Which part of the data do you find reusable
for your project? I know some of the data we use are from CC BY SA sources
and by the ShareAlike term the derived work from those data are CC BY SA
too.

This is certainly true of the source material (the text from the 廣韻 etc.) However, I'm quite sure that files like this are considered derivative works: https://github.com/BYVoid/ytenx/blob/master/ytenx/sync/kyonh/Dzih.txt This isn't just a redistribution of the ancient text; it's a digitization, along with some annotations. Therefore the author could claim ownership of this file, and others who wish to use it would need to seek permission in order to protect their own projects. (I am no lawyer, but I believe even photographs of works in the public domain can sometimes be considered as belonging to the photographer, and are therefore outside of the public domain. This stuff is tricky 😅)
I've been slowly developing a mnemonic system for learning the kanji, and I'm trying to incorporate a little bit of etymology. It's still a little rough around the edges, but you can take a look here if you like :) http://kanjijump.com
I am mostly interested in that digitized Guangyun file I mentioned above: https://github.com/BYVoid/ytenx/blob/master/ytenx/sync/kyonh/Dzih.txt I was also considering using the variants data here: https://github.com/BYVoid/ytenx/blob/master/ytenx/sync/jihthex/JihThex.csv |
I vaguely remember that the JihThex.csv is just from Unihan Variants, so
you might wanna use that. At the moment I don't remember what their license
is.
The source of most other data can be found on page ytenx.org/about
In the particular case of sync/kyonh/Dzih.txt I believe it's compiled
by Polyhedron, Zgheng, 有女同車. Cc'ing @***@***.***
***@***.***> in case he knows about the license or the contact
info of the other two authors.
