cardano-cli throws Command failed: key non-extended-key Error: Invalid key. when trying to get stake non-extended verification key from StakeExtendedVerificationKeyShelley_ed25519_bip32

Steps to reproduce

A trip longer than strictly needed, but just to make it clear where the StakeExtendedVerificationKeyShelley_ed25519_bip32 comes from:

cat recoveryphrase.txt | cardano-address key from-recovery-phrase Shelley > root.prv

$ cardano-address key child 1852H/1815H/0H/2/0    < root.prv > stake.prv

$ cardano-address key public --without-chain-code < stake.prv > stake.pub

$ cardano-cli key convert-cardano-address-key --shelley-stake-key \
--signing-key-file stake.prv \
--out-file stake.skey

$ cardano-cli key verification-key --signing-key-file stake.skey \
--verification-key-file stake.evkey

$ cat stake.evkey

cardano-cli key non-extended-key fails on current master git rev c731312
but works fine on 1.35.5:

$ ~/1355/cardano-cli --version
cardano-cli 1.35.5 - linux-x86_64 - ghc-8.10

$ ~/1355/cardano-cli key non-extended-key --extended-verification-key-file stake.evkey --verification-key-file stake.vkey

Expected behavior

Getting non-extended vkey from extended vkey should be possible.
