+Preinit handles the early process to load Gentoo init.  The following elements make up preinit:
+
+  * `bootimg.cfg` specifies structure of the device's boot.img and commandline options.
+  * `initramfs` sets up mount points for the Gentoo root and loads the Gentoo init.
+
