As discussed in #112, one request for the Herbarium workstations in Priorparken are thermometers that can be easily read form outside the enclosure.
Currently, we have analog thermometers that are attached to the enclosure above the camera, to get the most accurate reading of the temperature around the camera. However, to be able to read the temperature well, the digitizers currently need to climb onto a stool to get up to the thermometer, or lower the table enough to be able to read it. This is not practical. and should be improved during Q¤ 2024.

I ordered two digital thermometers for Herb01 and Herb03. They have a probe attached to them so that we should be able to attach the main thermometer somwhere it is easy to read and put the probe close to the camera. this way, we don't only monitor the camera temperature, but can also tell how much warmer it is than the current room temperature.

Once they have arrived and we have tried them at Priorparken I will update and close this issue.

The first thermometer has arrived and I installed it at Herb01. it seems to be working fine, though the cable for the "outdoor" probe isn't very long (but it was the longest I could find for a reasonable price) so the thermometer can't be too far away from the enclosure. I attached it to one of the aluminum beams for now, and put the probe as close to the camera as possible. The main thermometer is now still kind of inside the enclosure so it doesn't accurately read the room temperature, but even like this the top of the enclosure was around 7°C warmer than the side after a few hours.
It needs batteries, so we need to be able to take it off from time to time to exchange them. Spare batteries and the instruction manual are in the cupboard where our camera boxes etc. are stored as well.
