Parking lot: Connect Digital Objects

Parking Lot items:

• Introduce NLM/PMC linkout as standard for all repos (considered for Y3 plan)
• • Deliverable: Send collected data regarding links between our datasets and journal articles to NLM for display on articles in PMC as part of their LinkOut implementation
• Introduce links to related data in non-GREI domain-specific repositories (considered for Y3 plan)
• • Deliverable:
    -Report on how domain specific repos can be linked to by each generalist repos
    -Interaction with non-GREI / domain-specific repositories: Outline the ways in which we should interact with domain repos. How do we connect to them? When do we refer researchers to them?
• • Collaboration with GitHub (not as an awardee, but as a collaborator)
• • More support for computational workflows - connecting items across repositories
• • How do we handle items in more than 1 repository - especially usage tracking and citations
• Identify potential destinations (“buckets”) for links/citations of published data, prioritize, reach out and implement connection with at least one. (considered for Y3 plan)
• • Deliverable: Develop a prioritized list of “buckets” that might include NLM/PMC, Github, RIMs, etc. and focus effort on one implementation
• Consistent API interactions. All repositories can integrate with submission systems like EM/PKP - Influence other submission systems to also support this
• • Editorial Manager offers an Aries Integration (API), Dryad, Figshare and Mendeley are participating - do other Repos want to participate too?
• Authenticated ORCID integrations. Can we each offer common support for authenticated ORCID integrations for authors and co-authors.
• Quality citations vs. quantity of citations (Citations, Views, Downloads, Article/Dataset Linking) Monitoring/Reporting - “Adopt Accepted Ecosystem Best Practices?”

• • Can we capture data about citations to let users decide quality?
