At the moment, there are three potential NER prototypes that we are planning to build:

Nemo-Serve for entity recognition, SAPBert for entity linking
- Currently in development: Add PubAnnotation test nemo-serve#3
Nemo-Serve for entity recognition, QuickUMLS for entity linking
- Needs to be discussed and scheduled
OGER/Ontorunner for entity recognition and linking
- Waiting on Validate OGER/Ontorunner split_11 output oger-benchmarks#1
QuickUMLS for entity recognition and linking
- Needs to be discussed and scheduled

All of these individual components have now been built, so we need:

Python scripts in this repository that allow someone to send text to any of these NER prototypes and get back entities in the PubAnnotation JSON format
- In progress as Nemo-Serve integration tests at Add PubAnnotation test nemo-serve#3
Improve Nemo-Serve's speed nemo-serve#14

Other NER engines are being considered at https://github.com/orgs/RENCI-NER/projects/2/
