**If you have the official version installed, you need to uninstall it first.*

No need to uninstall if you have the prior Redwood-specific version, but make sure that you've quit it first (File > Exit or right click in the system tray and click Quit Rancher Desktop).

Release Notes

To support Redwood's tech stack, we forked Rancher Desktop at version 1.17.1, added the below changes, and released it under this release 1.17.1:

  • Disabled Traefik ingress controller by default
  • Switched auto update away from the official repo
  • Added warnings in label for Traefik that enabling will break for Redwood
  • Added visual clues that this version of Rancher Desktop is a redistributed fork specifically meant for Redwood support
  • Add support for proxying UDP ports for container ports that use the host, which is necessary if you want remote clients to connect to your local K8s game servers
