Does UMEP Consider DSM Resolution in Irradiation Calculations?

I have been using UMEP to calculate irradiation with DSM data of varying resolutions and noticed that the resolution significantly influences the results. Specifically, I tested DSMs at 1-meter and 20-centimeter resolutions (where the 20-centimeter DSM is a resampled version of the 1-meter DSM), and it appears that the calculated total irradiation does not account for differences in grid resolution. This suggests that the area per grid cell is not considered in the calculations.

My questions are as follows:

1. Is there a feature in UMEP that normalizes the results to account for DSM resolution, ensuring that total irradiation reflects the same area regardless of resolution?
2. If not, is there a specific resolution for which UMEP is designed or optimized?

Hi Hajime,
Irradiance is calculated in Watts per square meter (W m-2) and is not affected by resolution. This is the common way to calculate radiation fluxes. Thus, You can use any resolution and still get the same irradiance value back.

@biglimp I have been reviewing the results and noticed that the calculated values seem smaller than expected. This has led me to wonder whether the unit for irradiance might be listed as Wh/m², but is intended to be kWh/m².

Could you kindly confirm whether the output values are in Wh/m² or kWh/m²?
