Building Pen from Git

Building from Git is just like building from source (because it is source), except that the source is probably more recent than the latest release, hasn't been tested much, and may actually not work or even build.

The following instructions assume the the build host is "pristine" and therefore includes operating system specific hints on setting up the build tools.
