Highlight does not work when entering hex values to set background or text color

Description

When I try to set the highlight in a paragraph via the toolbar, at least the input of a hex code to change the background or text color does not work. The input is "disturbed" and I cannot enter numbers and digits as desired. The input of RGB works.
@ndiego also checked the issue in the Slack channel #outreach: "Something a bit funny is going on."

Step-by-step reproduction instructions

1. Create a paragraph
2. Mark a textpart (for example a word)
3. via toolbar selection highlight

I can confirm this is the case. It seems the Highlight custom color control only allows short 3-characters-long hex color setup. Trying to insert long hex color format (6 chars) does not work and the color control resets itself while typing in the color.
