RP2040 Firmware on MPC3000 #450
-
Using the RP2040 on my MPC3000 needs to have the firmware on the SD card loaded every time it gets powered on otherwise the MPC can't see my HDAs images .. , is this a normal behaviour .. ? And it blinks about 20 to 25 times continuously when powered on if the firmware ain't on the SD .. Thank you very much ! |

@deepah84 there's no way for us to answer this question with the limited amount of information that's been provided. We need to know which model/variant of ZuluSCSI RP2040 you're using, as well as how you're powering it and, most critically, what the firmware version is. |

All things start with The LED Test. Keep the MPC off and power it WITHOUT THE SD CARD via the USB jack with a Android USB cable and wall charger. (You can do the same thing if you don't have such cables by disconnecting the SCSI cable and powering it via the MPC3000.) It should blink 5 times, stop, blink 5 times, and on and on. Then, put in the SD card; it should blink once and stop. If that's all good, take the zululog.txt that will be on the SD card and upload it here. If it's not good, tell us what the LED is doing other than what is described above. |

Couple things: its good to come here, but I suggest you contact Studio Services to see if they support their sale. They should be supporting what they sell. Also, I see that the LED is staying on for about 10sec, which is not normal. According to your log you are using a FAT32-formatted 16GB SD card. 16GB is kind of small. I'd try another one. But... going back to your initial question, so it DOES work on your MPC3000 if the firmware (the BIN file) is on your SD card? If so, perhaps there needs to be a greater boot delay. Comment out the System=MPC3000 line in the zuluscsi.ini and add InitPreDelay = 1000 - something larger than 600. Your observation that the "firmware must be on" may be masking that the loading the firmware gives that added delay unintentionally. Another workaround, if needed, could be putting the firmware on the SD card and making it READ-ONLY so the ZuluSCSI doesn't erase it, thus giving you that built-in delay every time. Still though, try greater values of InitPreDelay first. The MPC3000 is an old machine and some are worse than others. We've found this out via lots of experience. |
