After I send the email, the MD formatting disappears

I posted the following text in an email I sent to myself:

Hello Markdown Here!

I toggled the MD and it was formatted properly. But, when I opened the received email, the MD formatting was all gone!

Are you using Gmail's web interface? Do you have plain-text mode turned on? See #50.

You're absolutely right: I was in plain text mode by default! Working fine now. Just a minor observation: when I toggle MD using CTRL-ALT-M several times, an empty line gets inserted and the content is pushed down. (Not a big deal!)

Do you mean that the content goes further and further down the page with repeated render/derender actions? Or that it shifts down a line when you render and then back up when you unrender? (Like, doesn't get further and further down?)

If it does get further down: Which browser are you using?

The content goes further and further down the page with repeated
render/derender actions. I'm using Chrome 33.
