Since MuseScore requires a closed-source binary program MuseHub in order to download their new soundfonts MuseSounds, I built this as an opensource atlernative. It is simply a webpage which links to the official torrent files and then you can use those to download the files you want using your bittorent client of choice.
Click here to get to the webpage
- Go to the page listing downloads here
- Click on what you want to download. You'll need musesampler in addition to whatever soundfonts you want
- Download the torrents using a torrent client. For example Transmission or qBittorrent
- Move the downloaded files to the correct location for MuseScore to find them
As an alternative, you can run this script to download the torrent files. It currently only supports downloading the musesampler
TODO: Determine where to put the files for each OS
After downloading and unzipping musesampler-mac-0.4.1.34.zip
, copy or move the file libMuseSamplerCoreLib.dylib
to /usr/local/lib/libMuseSamplerCoreLib.dylib
.
Simliarly to MacOS, move the libMuseSamplerCoreLib.so
file to /usr/lib/libMuseSamplerCoreLib.sh
after unzipping.
I'm not completely sure, but I think you can place MuseSamplerCoreLib.dll
inside of the installation folder of MuseScore
