But take a look at install.sh - This should work in many cases. But it probably has to be changed to be run by unprivileged users that are not owner of the IDE installation directory. Maybe even an automated install run from the arduino script upon first start as Google Chrome does might make sense. Should I make some changes and file a pull request then?
Maybe an additional script for those who do have the privileges, everything will continue to work the same way, but those who wish can get a shortcut to dash. (Also, why isn't Arduino package updated in the Ubuntu repos?)
It would be much nicer if the Linux package also contained script to add Arduino IDE to the Dash menu.
