well this just means that ot has to pick between making actually useful bombs and farming points, and puts them COMPLETELY at the mercy of rines actually using their not good research grenades... the dispenser is a good change but the way you are required to unlock stuff that used to be avaliable roundstart is just a bad nerf, especially when it comes to spec ammo; theres a good chance the sadar would be dead by the time you got the points... NOW, if the points unlocked actual casing upgrades and new stuff like air-dropped bombs... |
i like the core concepts behind what's being done here, though "minor OT changes" feels like a very inaccurate name when the changes are incredibly major to the role, how it's played, and how it interacts with the round |
About the pull request
contains borrowed code from Kivts
Adds Technology credits, a new OT currency to unlock casings
You start off with 10 credits and obtain 5 every 10 minutes
rockets, mortar shells, custom claymores and C4s are no longer available roundstart and must be unlocked with technology credits
Adds the explosion data analyzer, costs 1 credit to print and can be attached to casings and grants 3 credits for every mob hit by the casing's fire or explosion (as long as they are not dead or a monkey). Also lowers the casing's max capacity by 30 units if below 200 and 60 units if above 200 units. Doesn't award credits for gibs (no data to analyze duh!)
Adds chem dispensers to the OT workshop and other minor changes to the workshop
Adds an option to buy an explosive chem paper with an easy recipe
adds an option to buy an armylathe upgrade
adds an option to buy a single use Drathek approved custom OB (reaction limits subject to change!)
Explain why it's good for the game
No more strong OT casings available at roundstart.
Marines must earn OT stuff by hitting good nades.
Chem dispenser so OT can do cool custom mixes without having to bother medbay or research every single time.
Paves the way for moving OT to research if anyone ever does that in the future.
New cool OT stuff to experiment with
