This is the 5.4.0 release, with some very exciting news!

  • All releases are code-signed from now on, both on Windows and macOS. That means that you won't get security warnings anymore and can more easily install these versions of Signal 🎉 (it might take a while for Windows SmartScreen to build up trust on our certificate) - we even notarize the app on macOS for an ever smoother installation experience!
  • Auto-updates are now enabled. Next to the code signing, we also sign the releases, just like the Signal team does. Signal will automatically check for updates and download them from https://signal2.dennisameling.com if available. The app uses certificate pinning to be absolutely sure it's interacting with a trusted server, so don't be worried if you get certificate warnings in your browser. For downloading through a browser, use https://signal.dennisameling.com (links below).
  • Renamed the app to Signal Unofficial, so that it's very clear that this is not the official Signal Desktop app. We fully respect Signal's AGPL-3.0 license. All code is publicly available at https://github.com/dennisameling/Signal-Desktop/tree/multi-arch-support. You either have to re-link your phone or copy the app data from the existing Signal app over to the unofficial one.

If you have any issues with this build, please report them in this repo, NOT in the main Signal repo!
