a question came up in #36 related to #3 and #57, about calculating the duration of a date range in days — should both start and end day be included, or only one?

  • What are the implications of this decision?
  • Is there an existing standard we can follow?
  • Might this differ from project to project depending on what's being calculated, and if so should it be configurable? If so, how do we make it configurable?
  • Should the same logic apply when calculating durations in months and years?

Addressed by documenting how duration is calculated (inclusive / closed interval) in #111.

If specific use cases comes up later that justify it, we can add options to the duration methods to support other options.
