Now that we've got the stash, how much gold we can carry is no longer an issue.

If you think the price limits were implemented due to inventory space, then why do you suppose Wirt's price limit is lower than Griswold's?

Good point. I don't know. (The Hellfire devs didn't either; they eliminated the discrepancy.)

Good point. I don't know. (The Hellfire devs didn't either; they eliminated the discrepancy.)

I'd like to point out despite setting the price limits at 200k for Griswold and Wirt, they added the Auric Amulet, allowing the player to carry up to 400k. I think if their goal was to remove price caps, they would have either set them at either 400k, 370k, or removed them along the lines of how you did.

I'd like to point out despite setting the price limits at 200k for Griswold and Wirt, they added the Auric Amulet, allowing the player to carry up to 400k. Or they didn't want to screw people who vendored (or otherwise don't use) the amulet with un-purchasable items.

You can't purchase an item for 200k gold without Auric Amulet. You'll get a message saying there is not enough space in your inventory.
