Steps to reproduce

  1. Change the network options, with that I mean one of the following:
    • turn on airplane mode and then turn it off again
    • turn off wlan (and also when turning it back on)
    • turn on mobile internet
  2. Try to send a message.
  3. Message is processing forever, but never send.

Only a restart of my mobile phone (with a specific network option (wlan or mobile internet) enabled) fixes it and the message gets send.

Because Firefox and other apps are working, I suspect it has to be a bug in your app.

I can also provide a handshake, but right now I doubt it to be helpful.

#4669 and #5272 sound related.

Forced restart of the App also solves the problem.

It is even worse if you are expecting incoming messages @toby63 @jonnyandrew .

For example, if you use element to receive operational alerts.

After network changes (i.e. from Wifi to Mobile) the application is silently dead. You will not receive anything and you will not be alerted of that condition.

You will not notice even if you open the application to check if there is anything new.

It is a very serious problem.
