Steps to reproduce

Unclear.

Outcome

What did you expect?

The room list to be stable.

What happened instead?

Over the last 2-4 weeks I've noticed an uptick in #14531 -style symptoms where the room list's blur goes away (leaving me with my chosen background) or the room list just disappears entirely (using the app background color). In both cases, the effect is about 5 frames long.

The client was rendering at its full 60fps the entire time, with no drops.

Operating system

Windows 10

Application version

Nightly (2021-03-26) + others

How did you install the app?

The Internet

Homeserver

t2l.io

Will you send logs?

No

I think it's somehow related to video playback in encrypted(?) rooms. I've seen it more often after sending/receiving an autoplayed video in encrypted rooms.

okay, it's definitely related to videos somehow. Are we doing anything weird with the layering of DOM elements?

turns out my graphics card drivers were having issues. Writing this off as that.
