What this PR does / why we need it:
git-describe
uses a number of hex digits to represent the current commit in abbreviated form which depends on the git version and number of objects in the repo (https://git-scm.com/docs/git-describe), this meant that for some build containers it was reported as 7 digits, for some as 8. This normalizes everything to 7 which is what we're used to.Which issue(s) this PR fixes:
