If you want to try an installation with Qemu and EFI:
$ qemu-system-x86_64 -bios /usr/share/qemu/bios-ovmf.bin [...]

bios.ovmf.bin can be downloaded from:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/edk2/files/OVMF/OVMF-X64-r15214.zip/download
then:
$ mv OVMF.FD /usr/share/qemu/bios-ovmf.bin
