The version 3 of onion services were introducted in Tor release 0.3.2.9 and are now stable and in use from more than 1 year.

Given the additional security offered i think we should consider bumping our support and keep support for the old version only for services already generated.

Work stabilized and included in release 3.9.5.

It currently requires Tor version 0.3.3.9 that is the first version supporting Onion Services V3.
