Miosolo Reusable Diapers #28
Comments
Thank you so much for opening this issue. This isn't really a question about Bambino Mio diapers, it's an epic stating 'please write down everything you know about cloth diapers and the choices you have made'. I totally agree that there is a lot of knowledge in my head about this because when I was researching and buying, I was doing it all in the wee hours of the morning, one-handed scrolling on my phone with a baby on the other arm. I will absolutely write this document and have made a start on it today 👍 It felt huge to me so you opening this issue has given me a starting point. In the short term let me answer the titular question posed here: is it worth buying more Bambino Mio Miosolo diapers? The short answer is no. ContextThe reason you see this brand a lot is because they have the biggest marketing budget of any diaper brand. The cute prints help. Are they good diapers?Sort of. Because of this we always have to boost absorption with extra inserts and they are not truly an AIO because you basically cannot use them un-boosted. For what they are, they are extraordinarily expensive. Why we have a fewWe don't have ANY brand new Miosolos. We have about 4 and they are all second hand. But why do we have them even though they're not great? In this house, because we have a few people using diapers, both fit and Velcro count for a lot. We ONLY use them in the afternoons because we know baby A typically doesn't wet his diapers much after 13h00. Nothing compared to the morning floods. I should also note that they were great transition diapers for the awkward stage where babies are too small for the newborn size but too big for the standard one size. I think the 4 we have is the sweet spot. Any more and they'd get used at the wrong times and we'd have leaks. |
@iteles I've seen this brand on a few of the diapers.
What are your thoughts on them?
Would you buy more? Or are there better brands/designs?

There are many patterns ...

I can certainly see the appeal. It's quirky/cute and not "boring". 💭
But sometimes the boring things are the ones that work as a system far better ... 🕥
Context
We currently have at least 5 distinct brands of diapers in rotation.
Some have poppers others use velcro.
Some have inserts while others are "all in one".
There are "morning", "afternoon" and "night" versions all with different properties.
Some are smaller and cover less area. They are fine for around the house but not good for going to the park,
because they don't "catch" the poop as well ...
I totally understand the reason we have multiple brands,
types, designs/materials, fastening systems, etc.
It was because:
a) "we" were **
new
to this and wanted to research it by buying several options. i.e: field-testing.b) some diapers were better than others and you (Inês) have sold the ones you didn't like.
I also acknowledge that you have a ton of info in your head and in group chats with other moms so you have done a mountain of research. It would be very nice to have it all captured systematically so that: we can
instead of constantly re-writing the same thing in a WhatsApp group where the information is locked-up and will eventually disappear ...
I feel that we are not leveraging Inês' knowledge/experience and I at least have regular head-scratcher moments where I think: Why is it this way? 🤷♂️
