sindresorhus/awesome#1052

  • Not a duplicate. (There is already an awesome-macOS repo, but this repo has more than 2x as many stars. Worth merging them, in my opinion)
  • Comment on why something is awesome. Apart from suggesting a particular item on your list, you should also inform your readers why it's on the list and how they will benefit from it.
  • Drop all the A / An prefixes in the descriptions. May be an issue, haven't really checked.
  • Doesn't include a Travis badge.
  • Only has awesome items. Awesome lists are curations of the best, not everything. This list is a bit over-inclusive. Maybe we should trim some of the sections down a bit.

I added two critical files in this next PR, too. LICENSE and contributing.md

@alichtman thx!

I don't want to trim it. I hope I can category and add badges. Some bad software can be slowly deleted

In PR #333, I only removed projects that had listed serious security vulnerabilities and were no longer under development, or that had universally better software alternatives for a specific task. ("Why would you ever use x when you could use y. It does everything x does but better.")

Only awesome items can be included on the list, so we need to be somewhat selective. I think there is a fair balance in the set as it is right now, but it is really important to screen out the outdated software from the list.
