Yes it does. But why shouldn't it find it?

File might not exist yet? Different permission settings might also cause this.

@Toc88 , could you please check what permissions you have for the file: %localappdata%\Microsoft\PowerToys\File Explorer\settings.json ?

@Aaron-Junker , I've just tested this, if the file doesn't exist, the error occurs.

I thing the getSettings function should catch this and not the devloper preview.

That's not how the API is used on the other PowerToys, though.
The module using the API is the best place to know what to do in this case, like creating the settings file itself. (some modules can, other modules can't, like developer preview).

Hi @Toc88 , We think we got it figured out in #17541 .
We want to release a fix in some days.
In the meanwhile, could you please try the following workaround?
Open Settings, go to "File Explorer add-ons", disable and enable developer files preview.
Does this fix the .txt and .php issue for you?
