Microsoft PowerToys version

0.59

Running as admin

  • Yes

Area(s) with issue?

General

Steps to reproduce

I just updated to 0.59 successfully (or so it seems), but on the General pane I have this persistent error message.
PowerToys Settings_MszUboDkFC

Steps to repro:

  1. Update to 0.59 from 0.58 from inside PowerToys
  2. PowerToys restarts
  3. General pane should be normal, show no errors

✔️ Expected Behavior

General pane should show no errors.

❌ Actual Behavior

See above.

Other Software

Too many to list, like I said functionally it seems like the update went fine.

Hi there!

Your update log seem to be reporting "[2022-06-07 13:42:33.127557] [p-11236] [t-43588] [error] Invoked with -update_now argument, but update state was invalid"

This seems to be correct, since you already updated to 0.59.0.

Maybe this message will stop showing up by itself after restarting the system?

@ksbrar could you please remove %localappdata%\microsoft\powertoys\UpdateState.json, restart PowerToys and try checking for updates again?

Unfortunately, your advice didn't help me. But I've found another solution, that worked for me:
I've executed file %localappdata%\microsoft\powertoys\Updates\powertoyssetup-0.59.0-x64.exe manually*, and everything worked fine!

successful
