Summary of the new feature/enhancement

I would like to map a key to send a left-mouse-click. Is there any technical obstacles that would forbid this?

Proposed technical implementation details

Allow to map a key to issue mouse interaction (click left, middle, right, x-button)

We have not looked into mouse-based shortcuts as of yet, so can't comment on the potential hurdles, but we have an issue for it here: #3690

closing as duplicate!
