BREAKING CHANGES

• @testing-library/dom was moved to a peer dependency and needs to be explicitly installed. This reduces the chance of having conflicting versions of @testing-library/dom installed that frequently caused bugs when used with @testing-library/user-event. We will also be able to allow new versions of @testing-library/dom being used without a SemVer major release of @testing-library/react by just widening the peer dependency. @types/react-dom needs to be installed if you're typechecking files using @testing-library/react.

✓ We're doing this.

@types/react-dom needs to be installed if you're typechecking files using @testing-library/react.

We don't do this, and I'm seeing some warnings in the tests that may be related:

Warning: React does not recognize the fetchPriority prop on a DOM element. If you intentionally want it to appear in the DOM as a custom attribute, spell it as lowercase fetchpriority instead. If you accidentally passed it from a parent component, remove it from the DOM element.

We're already installing @testing-library/dom

Adding @types/react-dom did not help. This appears to be because we're on react 18.3.1, which turns on warnings for the upcoming 19 release. This is a known issue, and the current work-around is to pin updates. See vercel/next.js#65161.

I'm going to go ahead with this update. No tests break, just additional known warnings about a future update.
