negative global filter

btw, it would be a really great feature if there was a negative global filter

You can achieve that already by using a Global Query..
https://publish.obsidian.md/tasks/Queries/Global+Query

Add instruction(s) in your global query to filter out the tasks you are not interested in...
Then for the odd times where you want to find those filtered out ones, put the following in a task query, either temporarily or permanently:

ignore global query
