In the rpm-ostree model, the RPM database lives in /usr/share/rpm, and is immutable. Normally, I have a compatibility symlink that lives in /var, but I'd like to use libsolv (via hawkey) when /var isn't mounted, for an external root.

Ok, now somewhat merged. We first check for /var/lib/rpm though (like in hawkey), so that standard users are not penalized. |
