Adding an additional field of type date does not render the correct widget

Describe the bug
When adding a new additional field using the date type a normal text input field is displayed.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Add a new field with date type

Expected behavior
This should use the appropriate date widget so that it is validated and does not allow plain text.
