I can upload a ods file via Documents but it never gets visible on the Documents page. Ods files I already previously have uploaded are not displayed in the Documents view either.

Okay, I just got confused when I uploaded the .ods file through Documents and it just disappeared without any error message or notice that it is not supported. One way to improve this would be not to allow to upload other than .odt files through Documents until they are supported.

Is support for ods spreadsheets planned for the future? This would be extremely useful, Google Docs currently has a similar feature.

It's only for viewing an ods file I'm afraid. WebODF can't do realtime
collaborative editing for spreadsheets for the moment.

If something so important is not supported (and seems not be supported in short term), please issue a warning to the user - not only in the log file.
"ods currently not supported - please download and open locally"
