Not sure if there is an easier way to do this in ubuntu, but these steps worked for me.

Thanks!

not sure if there is something simpler compiling a kernel for ubuntu, but this worked for me.

Thank you for putting the AUR package together.

Thank you for the contribution but this repository exists specifically to generate the pacman package that contains the patched kernel. This is useful mostly (only?) for archlinux based distro.
I don't know if others package managers have alternative ways to generate custom packages, if there are please feel free to open a PR.
I can add this as a wiki page that describes how to compile the kernel on debian/ubuntu systems manually but in the code I would prefer to avoid instruction for the manual building.

@patacca understood. Thanks for moving it over to the wiki.

edit:
oh also just learned for debian, looks like once the linux sources are configured the make deb-pkg LOCALVERSION=-tgl-hack would build out a .deb file which can be installed using dpkg -i ./linux-tgl-hack-image.deband i suppose there's some extra stuff that could be added into the deb to pull the sources and patch and all that automatically too. just an informational.

I am reopening this as a reminder for myself to create a script to automatically build the deb package for debian/ubuntu
