can this be used for pure screenshots? not video recording sessions ? I couldn't find a function in the to do that, im sure it could be hacked on.

Please take a look at rrweb-snapshot, which I think is the thing you need without hacking:)

Great, maybe just put an explicit section about it in readme instead of keeping this open?
