That is due to legal reasons and the upstream, projects already have removed it, see iamcal/emoji-data#142.

So there is a free license: https://www.joypixels.com/licenses/free

However, the full text states:

Include it in open source projects or cryptocurrency projects. (we support these types of projectshowever they require a custom license agreement—please contact us at [email protected])

So maybe that would allow a way to still include it, but that requires a lot of effort.

So emoji-mart v3.0.0 has been integrated here, which removes EmojiOne support. In v2.0 that is to be released soon, this will also land in Awesome Emoji Picker.

I'm sorry, but there is no other way, if we want to support all these shiny new emojis in Emoji v11.0 and above. 🤷‍♂️ 😢

I stay interesting in potentially going through some legal hooks to get support back or so.
So if you are interested in getting EmojiOne support back, please upvote this comment/issue.

Apparently, there is not much interest in getting it back, so I'll close this issue for now.
Seems people are fine with Twitter emojis.
