I maintain IfcOpenShell an open source software library for the built environment.

For centuries people exchanged information about buildings in two-dimensional line drawings. Interpreting these drawings was error prone and automation was absent.

More and more now the construction sector uses BIM (Building Information Modelling) and the standard to exchange such models is IFC (Industry Foundation Classes). These are rich structured data models that both humans and computers can make sense of. This enables us to build better buildings now and better maintain them in the future.

IfcOpenShell is one of the main libraries to make this happen. Access, create, analyse and validate your IFC building models in Python or C++.
