To get started, join the SXS slack. Slack is a messenger tool where you can share questions, show code snippets / error messages, share plots, etc. Our workspace is

sxscollab.slack.com

You can use Slack via a web-interface, or a standalone desktop or mobile app. You will be able to sign-in using your black-holes.org email address (email Larry if you do not have one). You can also email Nils Deppe, Larry, Mark, or Geoffrey to add an email address that is not black-holes.org.

There are many interesting channels to join on the SXS Slack, some related to specific projects, some general. The most useful ones to join if you're starting out are

#general : This is for general discussion within SXS. An example question would be "Does anyone know any useful references for damped harmonic gauge?"

#spec : This is for discussion related to SpEC. Example questions would be "My run died and this is the error message that I got..." or "Does SpEC have a way to evolve scalar fields?"

#spectre : Similar to the #spec channel, but for SpECTRE-related discussions.

#paper-discussion : channel for general paper discussion. If you find something when doing lit reviews for your research, or on gr-qc, hep-th, astro-ph, etc, please share here!

#career-info : channel for asking career questions at any stage of your career, be they for academia, national labs, or industry.
