Unfortunately we have some really old dependencies like
static-site-generator-webpack-pluginwhich won't be compatible with React 18. So locking react to 17 would be the best option at the moment unless someone wants to refactor the whole server side rendering part of this site which would require a lot of work.Generally I think we should really consider rewriting the whole site with some battle-tested frameworks like Next.js or whatever instead of maintaining one.
