Welcome - to the galaxy42/yedino research community wiki!
Unofficial - this is run by open source community (NOT officially endorsed by Yedino). Regular users please instead use official version only: https://github.com/yedino/galaxy42 .
See below how to help us, or see why use/develop Yedino.
-
Join us on webchat rocketchat https://chat.meshnet.pl/channel/yedino (🚧SSL is for junta.pl), you can add g. or y. in front to connect over Galaxy42 (Yedino). Or see Contact (also IRC is an option).
-
Optional: To view/edit this Wiki better - install custom CSS style from here: https://userstyles.org/styles/97661/wide-my-github?utm_campaign=stylish_stylepage to make the GitHub.com page wider (could require installing Firefox addon, or some browsers just allow adding custom CSS? Security review CSS before applying).

To edit wiki, first you should create some materials, code, research,
contact us to merge it (open a PR?).
If we send github organization invite, then: check email or check https://github.com/yedinocommunity on top there will be box saying you're invited, accept it.
This is in development, not ready (besides basic meshnet/vpn over udp) as of 2017-09 see https://github.com/yedino/galaxy42/tree/dev for progress info.
Use cases:
- connect to other nodes using local WiFi, and access in-network services over Yedino even if you don't have "Internet"
- find a node offering "Gateway to internet", and access the Internet from your computer that only has connections to 1 or few Yedino nodes using
- you can "pay" (give tokens) to the peers or the Gateway, as much as you use them
- you can also earn tokens
Important points:
- you own your own IPv6 (cryptography - privkey)
- support many wire (transports) - e.g. node2node peering over UDP, TCP, but also over http, maybe Ham radio, pure Ethernet, and other backup/emergency protocols
- also you can transport over Cjdns network (or vice-versa)
- easy GUI integrated
- payment: control how you share your resources - e.g. earn tokens, or pay, to each-other, for faster connection
- (still you can give resources for free if you want, it's choice of each user)
- code in C++ (additional Linux kernel module would be in C)
- multi-threaded
Comparing to Cjdns: more user friendly and integrated optional GUI, multi-threaded, payment/tokens possible (less scalable for now, but more in future).
Comparing to OpenVPN: it's a meshnet, not just VPN. And payment/tokens, and GUI.
If you're a regular user, instead follow development of project's official versions: https://github.com/yedino/galaxy42/ (please note project is in pre-alpha as of 2017-10)
All code here can be totally unsafe, untested, have bugs and exploits! This Wiki can be edited by wider community, so mistakes etc can happen! Do not run code from here on real computer/account. We recommend separate test box.
Unofficial R&D page for Yedino and it's OpenSource community.
Code here can be 🚨insecure🚨 so run it only on isolated test machines/accounts.
Official Yedino is instead on https://github.com/yedino/galaxy42 .
