Description

To improve the performance and user experience of the platform, we plan to make several improvements to critical parts. These improvements include:

• Storing sim4life preferences system-wide using service-based storage facilities and injecting them via sidecar into running services. This will provide users with a seamless experience across different instances.
• Passing environment variables for licensing, user information (such as email and tokens), and API keys for 3rd party services (such as Turn) to running services via the sidecar API.
• Constantly reviewing overall architecture and service scheduling system

These improvements will not only enhance the performance of the platform but also provide users with a more efficient and enjoyable experience.

• Clear logs or metrics that can be monitored for and alerted upon if a dynamic or computational service fails (fails to save, fail to start, fails to run, ...)
• No more regularly happening, unmonitored, unhandled exceptions in any simcore microservice (exceptions possible if we clearly sync on them)

  • In ✨ Vendor secrets and session oenvs (part 3) 🗃️ osparc-simcore#3921 we define (soon enabled) three types of osparc environments (oenvs)
    • vendor secrets: information set by a vendor on the platform. e.g. a vendor service license
    • session oenvs: some session information as "current user email" or the "current product name"
    • lifespan oenvs: produced before a service is started and cleaned up after it finishes (e.g. API tokens ).
