Closes #100.
Tests fail on Python 3.13 because of a function
unittest.makeSuitethat was deprecated in Python 3.11 and removed in Python 3.13.This PR applies the patch proposed in #100 to fix the problem. The new code is backwards-compatible as far as Python 2.7, so there is no concern about regression for older Python versions.
