Kibana version: pgrade path: 6.8.x -> 7.17.3 -> 8.2.0

Browser version: Chrome latest

Original install method (e.g. download page, yum, from source, etc.):
Cloud staging

Description of the problem including expected versus actual behavior:

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Upgrade path, originating from 6.8x
  2. Go to home -> try sample data -> any -> graph
  3. Notice no sample data is available for graph

Errors in browser console (if relevant):

quick question for this, when is the sample data added in 6.8 or 8.2, just to be sure. could you share to code that you added to test this? would be very helpful, thx!

The sample data is added in 6.8 and then upgraded, it fails in 7.17 prior to upgrading to 8.2.

Also path originating from 5.x are showing this problem.

@liza-mae this is because Graph demo data was added in 7.6:
#54558
Therefore it's can't be tested
