Update for 3.15.12
New powers for the Undead, plus changing the Lich King's Tomb to replace Amphitheatre, since the temple is now gone.
Update for 3.15.0
3.15.0 features some new formats, so the relevant units and buildings have been updated. Plus, I've dropped the uniqueText to make the national uniques easier to translate.
A little cleanup
There were a few units that were missing pixel art, and a few vestiges of the Curse of Undeath in the code - that is, a few units and buildings that tried to compel you to build an Infection or otherwise install the Curse. (RIP the Curse). Those are removed, and the Undead are neater and prettier than ever.
Update for 3.12.11 - Crippled relations with city-states
Thanks to the new uniques, I can now directly hobble the Undead's ability to positively interact with city-states. So if you were thinking of being a friendly, diplomatic zombie nation, think again!
More changes are coming soon, but for now, get out there and eat Mogadishu!
Update for 3.12.10 - New, efficient debuffs with parameterized stat changes
Long ago, the Undead had percentage debuffs built into the Library and Monument replacements. They efficiently weakened the Undead in the right way, but I ended up getting rid of those, because it was possible to get around them (got -50% science from your library? Sell your library right after buying a university!). But now, Yair has given us percentage stat changes that cannot be escaped, because they're built into all cities! So please welcome a new, more efficiently debuffed Undead!
Behold the Bone Dragon!
Minor but beautiful update here, with new pixel art for the Bone Dragon, courtesy of GeneralWadaling.
Beautiful art, and more!
With the help of GeneralWadaling, we now have a whole pixel art style for the Undead! We also have a new unit, the Angel of Death, to replace the Nuclear Missile. It's a super-powered bomber unit, but beware, it costs money every time you use it! Plus a couple tweaks to game balance, with the hopes that when the AI plays the Undead, it will get off its ass and go conquering instead of saying home and building Wonders all day.
The Curse is broken...
Well, folks, after many happy hours of experimentation, I am sadly pulling the plug on the Undead's most distinctive feature; there is no more Curse of Undeath. If you follow our Discord channel, you'll already know why, but if not, here it is: cities that started out as capital cities cannot die at all, and so if they get Cursed, you can't ever get rid of it, making the city a permanent liability for anyone besides the Undead. That is definitely not what any of us had in mind when we designed this thing, so to undo this unfairness, I'm getting rid of the Curse. The Undead have a new set of debuffs to science and culture now, and I'm hoping they'll work.
Also gone is the Strength of the Grave promotion, replaced by the built-in Rejuvenation promotion, because now that Strength of the Grave is no longer the overpowered super-promotion it used to be, it doesn't make sense to give it its own unique art and code. Fast Fossil Fuel has been removed, but will be returning in a mod of its own, to be available to all civilizations.
Combat-wise, the Undead are even weaker now, with a smaller bonus against cities and a nerf against everything besides cities. They're still capable of fielding a huge army, so you should still be able to devour the world with them. Have fun!
Better art, and better game balance
We've got a slightly prettier Undead, with a new Icon for the Demi-Lich and pixel art for all unique units. But better yet, game balance! The Demi-Lich is more expensive and grows in cost as you conquer more cities, units cost a little more in maintenance, all cities have a little less food and gold (but a little more happiness), air units don't get a bonus against cities, and the only units that heal when they kill are melee units (with the exception of the Bone Dragon, because bone dragons are awesome). Enjoy!
BRAND NEW UNDEAD!
Howdy, y'all! I have risen from the grave once more, to bring you a new and (hopefully) improved Undead! No more diversion between regular and AI-friendly now, and not quite so much massive growth in population. Instead, the Undead now have massive growth in units, with a huge boost to unit production and a huge upkeep discount. They're still really bad at culture and science, but boy, can they throw out a ton of units fast. Lots of other changes, so have a look around!
