Omegalib Binaries

Currently, precompiled versions of omegalib are available for windows only. You can compile your own version of omegalib on linux or osx following the instructions in

Binary Releases

Binary releases are ready-to-use snapshots of fairly stable versions of omegalib that have been released in the past. They can be used to quickly evaluate omegalib on a system, but they are released sparingly. If you want the full feature set o fomegalib in an up-to-date version, build from source.

The latest binary release is version 5.2

Note on Windows 8

omegalib will work fine on Windows 8 systems without enabling compatibility mode. If you get a 0xc000007b startup error when you launch orun, you may have to install an old version of the .Net framework (2.x) on your machine.

The OMEGA_HOME environment variable

After downloading and extracting omegalib, you will probably ant to create a new environment variable called OMEGA_HOME, and point it to the extraction directory. Omegalib uses this directory to find data, modules and other omegalib components. If you plan to launch applications directly from this directory, creating the environment variable is not needed, but won't hurt.

On windows, you also want to add the extracted directory bin folder to your PATH, or external omegalib applications will not be able to find the omegalib dlls.
